FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a test that uses sound waves to create images of the inside of your body.
How should I prepare for my ultrasound scan?
Preparation differs depending on the type of ultrasound exam. See Patient Information.
How is an ultrasound scan performed? Will it hurt?
You will be examined while lying on an examination bed. A water-based gel is applied to the area being examined. The probe is placed on the body and moved over the area being examined until suitable images are captured.
The procedure is painless.
What are the benefits of ultrasound? Is it the same as an x-ray?
Ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless medical imaging method. Scanning provides clear images of body organ tissues that often do not show up on x-rays.
When will I get my results?
Results will be available soon after the scan. Your doctor will explain your results to you.
Do you accept medical aid?
We accept all major Botswana-based medical aids.
Do you process card payments?
We regret no point-of-sale card machine is available. ATMs are available in our office centre.
